Nearly 135 days after Russell Martin's first press conference as Rangers manager, successor the German coach faced reporters at Ibrox for the initial occasion.

The scale of the challenge ahead of him is widely recognized, considering his predecessor's chaotic and disappointing 123-day tenure.

The former Wednesday boss was accompanied by chairman Andrew Cavenagh, along with the frequently questioned pair of football director Kevin Thelwell and chief executive Stewart.

However, what precisely did we learn from the young coach's first public appearance as the club's manager?

Rohl's Primary Focus - Winning is Everything

A single message came through loud and clear from the new coach's first appearance in front of the local press - he understands the necessity to secure victories, and achieve this quickly.

The previous manager Russell Martin managed just 17 matches and 123 days in charge, so the inquiry arose about what timeframe the new man thinks is realistic to turn around the struggling squad.

Although deftly sidestepping a specific response that might create future pressure, the coach's message was quite clear.

"With hope as soon as possible," he said. "That is crucial.
"In this business you have limited time. You can discuss long-term vision but we know it's about the short-term and the short-term involves winning games. This is what I demand.
"Another aspect remains clear - I need all players to comprehend how we want to play. I come back to my main theme: it's winning, entertaining football and unity. By following this order, I'm convinced that I will remain for years at the club."

Expectations are Normal

The previous manager needed a police escort to exit the stadium after his last match as manager.

We've seen how hostile situations can become at football clubs when performances are poor. Protests have almost become a regular aspect of game day atmosphere on each part of the city currently.

As Rangers' youngest ever head coach, the inquiry asked about what qualities the coach thinks he possesses that would allow him to handle, let alone thrive, in among the most pressurized positions in UK soccer?

"In my opinion expectations in football are standard," he commented. "You must learn that rapidly.
"I think some people could reference my age but I have been a decade and a half in this career. I experienced a great opportunity to work with the German club and be only an assistant coach, but I felt what it means to be a head coach and the pressure you face.
"When you start getting results and then some critics will say you must play attractive soccer. That becomes the stage but that's exactly my intention. I relish that challenge and I'm excited for the future."

Thelwell Explains Striker Acquisition & Appointing Family Member

There were plenty of questions from journalists directed at Thelwell.

Significant attention has concerned the appointment of his son as recruitment chief, with supporters skeptical about his qualifications for the role.

Nevertheless, he defended and clarified the choice to bring his son to the club.

"It remains uncomfortable to hear and in appearance I think we all agreed when we took this step to hire Robbie that he'd be seen in a particular way," Thelwell stated.
"The truth of circumstances is that we aim to attract the top talent here.
"My view on his professional path and background is he didn't need my assistance in football.
"He served at Villa as head scout, he then joined Norwich as scouting chief and then was elevated to player pathways manager.
"Prior to our hiring him, multiple Premier League clubs wanted to acquire him. What we did from the start of proceedings was consult with Patrick, the chairman and vice-chairman Paraag Marathe about this matter.
"I remained highly transparent and I think he likely experienced a more rigorous process than anybody else employee by the team.
"I'm certain is that he'll labor constantly to be successful for this football club and I'm looking forward to him demonstrating that he's going to be an excellent employee for the club."

Thelwell also supported the acquisition of forward Chermiti, who arrived at the club for an alleged first payment of £8m, having failed to find the net in 24 appearances for his previous club.

It was Thelwell who brought the Portugal young international to Merseyside from Sporting - again for significant money in a fifteen million pound deal.

The question came if he supports his multi-million pound purchase, who hasn't yet register in seven matches for Rangers.

"Absolutely, completely," Thelwell answered. "I believe Youssef Chermiti is a player who's possesses great ability.
"I've never questioned him in any way. Similarly, I think the manager will assist in maximize the potential out of Youssef.
"These are initial stages for him, he's a promising prospect and naturally with young talents they occasionally take time.
"But I'm certain over the course of his career at the club he'll demonstrate that he is highly capable player."

Stewart Acknowledges Supporters' Disappointment and Anger

The chief executive was in the media scrutiny, considering the vitriol that has been directed at him by some of the club's fans.

Additionally, there was a banner in the stadium during the recent tie with Dundee United suggesting him - and Thelwell - to pack his bags before they were packed for him.

Like his football director, Stewart didn't avoid the issue.

"I totally understand the disappointment and hurt that fans are feeling because performances this season haven't met expectations and nobody's happy with them," he stated.
"The pain and disappointment they feel is matched inside the leadership.
"Recognize that there has to be an outlet for that dissatisfaction and as chief executive, that's me.
"I serve as lightning rod for those and my responsibility as a
